“You’ll never leave where you are until you decide where you’d rather be.”

One of the things that keep her stuck in a relationship that was going nowhere, was not knowing what she wanted for herself.

Her entire existence and her entire future had been based on a relationship with a man, who had continually told her it was just a matter of time before he would be free to be with her completely.

It was just another few weeks, and then another few months, and then a year or so.

One reason after another, why he could not get divorced or leave his wife yet.

And as the time went on, his urgency to leave his wife seemed to diminish.

One could not blame him entirely for this. She had never put pressure on him to leave. She had never given him an ultimatum. She had never told him that he had to choose. She had no reason to do so.

Why not? Well, because he had told her he was choosing her.
He had told her not to pressurize him. He had told her he needed to find the right time to make his move.
He had consistently reassured her of his love for her.
He had consistently told her they WOULD be together. 
He had consistently told her how important she was to him, and that he could not imagine a life without her.

He had sold her a dream.
A dream, without a plan. 
An open-ended dream.

A dream just enticing enough for her not to want to leave him.
Just enough of a dream to keep her on the line.
Just enough of a dream, to stop her from looking for someone else.

Yes, it was a dream, and that is all it was.

But it was a dream, big enough and exciting enough, to hold her attention, for long enough.
A dream that stopped her from imagining a life without him.
A dream that stopped her from deciding where she would rather be…

It was a dream, without a plan.

But it wouldn’t always be like this. Their time together WOULD come. He had a plan, she just had to be patient.

And she believed this…Cos he told her so.

So she sat waiting. She sat dreaming, to the exclusion of any other dream she could have rather had for herself. She put her life on hold…
And it sucked!
