Holding onto a secret creates stress

A friend once told me if you hold a fart in for too long, it travels up your spin, into your brain, and that’s where all your shit ideas come from. Yes, I know it’s a joke, but it is a good analogy to use when it comes to secrets.

Holding onto a secret creates stress. This leads to anxiety, frustration, confusion, overwhelm, resentment, guilt and much more. You become emotionally worn out and feel drained.

Much like a fart being held in, this secret builds up slowly over time, and becomes more difficult to keep in. You start to get uncomfortable, and you realise something is gonna give!

As it becomes harder to conceal, and your stress levels rise, you don’t realise that a blow out is inevitable. And once that bomb drops, everyone is gonna know!

Whether you like it or not, that smell is gonna follow you for a while. You can keep trying to conceal it, but the pressure has been building for ages, and now you have lost control. And as you might have guessed, the next phase is gonna be shit!

So BEFORE you reach this stage, I believe it is better to let things out, rather than to hold them in or keep them bottled up. It’s no good for your own wellbeing, nor is it good for those around you, when the pressure valve is released unexpectedly.

You need someone you can talk to. Someone who understands what you are going through. Someone who will let you vent, and allow you to do a brain and heart dump, without judging you. Someone who will guide you in what the fuck to do next. Someone who will listen and then help you make sense of it all, so that you can gain CLARITY, and then make better decisions, after careful consideration of all the moving parts, and in this way move forward in your life.
